Shihui San
Great thistle, small thistle, cogongrass root, palm bark, gardenia—each in equal parts.
Chinese juniper, rhubarb, peony bark, lotus leaf, madder root.
All the above herbs are burned to ash, ground into powder, and spread on the ground to absorb the fire qi. The black color represents water, and red appears when black disappears, indicating that water overcomes fire. Therefore, the ash is made black. The real strength lies in the purifying power of gardenia and the descending effect of rhubarb; when fire is cleared and qi is lowered, blood naturally calms down. The remaining herbs are all blood-moving substances, serving only as guides. It can be used to stop nosebleeds and bleeding from cuts.
[Note] The formula comes from "Ten Medicinal Gods Book." The main function of this formula is to rely on the "purifying power of gardenia" and the "descending effect of rhubarb" to clear fire and lower qi, thereby calming the blood.
