Rhinoceros Horn Rehmannia Soup
Rhinoceros horn 1.5 qian, rehmannia root 5 qian, white peony root 3 qian, moutan bark 3 qian.
Rhinoceros horn belongs to the earth element and embodies the essence of water; rehmannia root is earth-colored and contains water. Both substances absorb the energy of earth and water, nourishing the stomach yin and clearing stomach fire, making them the primary medicines for treating blood heat in the stomach meridian. However, the master of fire resides in the heart, so moutan bark is used to clear heart fire. Mutual fire is concentrated in the liver, so white peony root is used to calm the liver. By ensuring that the two fires—the master and the servant—do not converge in the stomach, the stomach remains clean and the blood stays stable.
[Comment] This formula originates from "Qianjin Fang." It has the functions of clearing heat, reducing fire, cooling blood, and stopping bleeding. It is one of the main formulas for treating blood disorders.
