Chi Xiao Dou Dang Gui San
Chi Xiao Dou 3 qian, Dang Gui 3 qian.
This treats cases where blood comes before bowel movements, what we now call visceral toxicity, similar to hemorrhoids. Therefore, Dang Gui is used to activate blood circulation. The red color of Chi Xiao Dou enters the blood, and when it sprouts, it helps loosen blood clots, causing the blood to disperse and preventing it from accumulating around the anus. The sprouts of Chi Xiao Dou can also transform blood into pus, taking advantage of its loosening effect; since abscesses and pus are common, it is often taken with liquid water.
[Note] Both this formula and the previous one come from "Jin Gui Yao Lue." One treats distant blood issues where bowel movements precede blood, while the other treats nearby blood issues where blood precedes bowel movements.
