Case of Successful Treatment of Mediastinal Tumor, December 27, 1977
Comrade Qian Bowen from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine treated a case of upper mediastinal tumor. Imaging confirmed it was a left-sided mediastinal tumor. The treatment focused on reducing swelling and softening hard masses, supplemented by promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The herbal formula included Xia Ku Cao, Kun Bu, Calcined Oyster Shell, Xiang Bei Mu, Ku Jie Geng, Ju Ye, Chen Pi, Danshen, Tao Ren, Sheng Yi Ren, Jin Yin Hua, Lian Qiao, Hai Zao, Jing Jie, Calcined Wa Leng, Pu Gong Ying, Gua Lou, Chi Shao, Hai Ha Ke, Tian Long. After Qian’s clinical adjustments, the final formula became: Xia Ku Cao 30g, Calcined Oyster Shell 60g, Calcined Wa Leng 24g, Hai Ha Fen 15g, Hai Zao 15g, Kun Bu 15g, Lian Qiao 15g, Pu Gong Ying 12g, Gua Lou 12g, Bei Mu 9g, Chi Shao 6g, Dan Pi 6g, Tao Ren 9g, Tian Long 12g. Decocted in water and taken once daily. Mnemonic: Chi Dan Tao Tian San Jia Xia, Lian Ying Bu Hai Bei Mu Gua.
