Experience in Treating Gastric Pain—September 11, 2001
For treating gastric distension and pain, I have previously used formulas such as Xiangsha, Xiexin, Danshen, Zhishu, Shaoyao Gancao, Yeshi Yangwei, Daxiao Jianzhong, Shen Gong Fang, and Yang Liuxian stomach medicine. However, for stubborn epigastric pain that sometimes becomes severe and where liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen diseases have been ruled out, these remedies have shown limited efficacy. In the winter of Xin-Yi year, I treated Li, an employee of the Provincial Talent Exchange Center, who suffered from persistent upper abdominal pain that worsened after meals. Despite trying both Western and traditional Chinese medicines, there was no improvement. I then prescribed the following formula: Danggui, Chuanxiong, Chi Bai Shao, Huangqi, Gaoliangjiang, Zhi Ruxiang, Mo Yao, Xiangfu, Banxia, Zhishi, Sharen, Yanhusuo, Duan Waleng, Mingfan, Sanleng, Ezhushi, Wu Zhu Yu, Wu Yao, Pu Huang, Dangshen, Baizhu, Fuling, Chenpi, Tanxiang, Sheng Longgu, Muli, Haipiaoshao. After decocting in water and taking one dose daily for six doses, noticeable improvement occurred. Following another ten doses, all symptoms were eliminated, and Li personally expressed his gratitude, saying, “You are a divine doctor!”
