Modern Methods for Diagnosing Syphilis May 9, 2005
In the past, syphilis diagnosis relied on the Wassermann reaction or the Kahn reaction. Since the introduction of serological testing methods such as enzyme-linked immunoassay, reverse passive hemagglutination, radioimmunoassay, and cloning techniques, RPR and TPPA have become the standard tests for syphilis serology, and later people began using tests for syphilis serum treponemal IgM antibodies.
