Main prescription for lowering diastolic blood pressure on April 26, 1979

Mr. Wang from the Organization Department of Factory 504 has suffered from hypertension for many years, with his diastolic pressure consistently remaining high. I prescribed Zhibai Dihuang Tang combined with Qiju Jia’er Tang and further added Zengye Tang with raw gypsum. After more than ten doses, his blood pressure dropped to 120/80 mmHg. In my view, the key to lowering diastolic pressure lies in adding raw gypsum to Zengye Tang. Nourishing yin through Zengye Tang may be most closely related to diastolic pressure, while calming the liver and suppressing wind may be more relevant to systolic pressure.
