My daughter, Xinhua, has had acute nephritis for more than three months. After reviewing all the traditional Chinese medicine formulas for treating nephritis and improving kidney function, the four commonly recognized ones are: Baoyuan Tang, Zengye Tang, Liuwei Di Huang Wan, and Siwu Tang. These four formulas regulate the overall reactive state of nephritic patients from different angles and can serve as basic formulas for treating nephritis. On this basis, if the patient is yang-deficient, add cinnamon, processed aconite, psoralea corylifolia, epimedium, and barberry; if the patient is yin-deficient, add cornelian cherry, tu si zi, turtle shell, goji berry, raw rehmannia, quinoa, golden cherry, smartweed, and lotus stamen.
