Treatment Experience with Deafness Soup, February 11, 1985
The composition of Deafness Soup is as follows: 60 g of magnetite, 60 g of kudzu root, 30–60 g of bone-breaking herb, 15 g of white peony, 9 g of sweet flag, 30 g of yam, 15 g of Chuanxiong, 15 g of rhubarb, 15 g of jujube, and 12 g of licorice. Decoct in water and take one dose daily. (Chinese Medicine Journal, Issue 1, 1984)
I used this formula to treat a 29-year-old male patient who suddenly became deaf in his right ear due to a cold. After five doses, he fully recovered.
Mnemonic: Stone mountain buries white bones, great river roots grow jujubes.
