One Formula for Periodontitis 1985.12.24

I often use Lushan Tang to treat periodontitis. The composition of this formula includes: reed root 10g, Chinese yam 10g, Poria cocos 12g, fennel 10g, curcuma 6g, Drynaria 6g, Dipsacus 6g, peach kernel 10g, apricot kernel 10g, talc 12g, and licorice 6g.

The formula's composition represents a triple tonic for lung, spleen, and kidney. Chinese yam tonifies the spleen's yin, Poria cocos drains the spleen's dampness, fennel warms the spleen's yang, Dipsacus and Drynaria strengthen the kidney and stabilize the teeth, while peach kernels and apricot kernels activate blood circulation and open up the lungs—after all, lung and kidney share the same origin, and metal and water generate each other.
