Effective Formula for Aplastic Anemia, July 12, 1986

Astragalus 20 g, Rehmannia 30 g, Chuanxiong 15 g, Polygonum multiflorum 20 g, Honey-roasted Licorice 10 g, Millettia 30 g, Strychnos nux-vomica 1 piece. For yin deficiency, add Cornus, Phellodendron, and Polygonatum; for internal heat, add Silverweed and Artemisia; for yang deficiency, add Asparagus and Epimedium; for spleen-stomach qi deficiency, add Si Jun Zi Tang. The mnemonic for this formula is: “Wudang Huang He Cao, Ji Ma You Tong Long.” (“Journal of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine,” May 1985)

Note: “Wudang” refers to the absence of angelica in Si Wu Tang, indicating the meaning behind later terms like “Wudi” and “Wuxiong.”
