Experimental Study on Wenqing Yin for Treating Behçet’s Syndrome, August 2, 1990
“Foreign Medical·Chinese Medicine Section” (Issue 1, 1989) reports that Wenqing Yin shows significant efficacy in treating Behçet’s syndrome. The composition of Wenqing Yin includes: Huang Lian, Huang Qin, Huang Bo, Shan Zhi Zi, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao, and Sheng Di Huang—essentially a combination of Huanglian Jiedu Tang and Siwu Tang. Based on this, it can be inferred that this formula can regulate and improve Type III hypersensitivity reactions and immune responses. Experimental studies have demonstrated that Wenqing Yin exhibits significant inhibitory effects on two types of immune responses in experimental animals: contact reaction (pc-CD) and local graft-versus-host reaction (GVH-R). Overall, Huanglian Jiedu Tang has stronger effects than Siwu Tang, but the inhibitory effect of Wenqing Yin arises from drug synergy, with Huang Bo playing a particularly prominent role in this interaction.
