Case Study on Connective Tissue Disease, July 20, 1992
Initially, I followed Mr. Wang Weichuan’s prescription of 60 g of Zicao, 9 g of Wu She, and 1 worm, but the effect was minimal. Later, I added Gui Zhi Shao Yao Zhi Mu Tang along with the above formula, including 30 g of Fuzi (decocted for 40 minutes) and 1 Ma Qian Zi (deep-fried), which improved the therapeutic outcome. I also noticed that this disease often involves yin deficiency and night sweats, so drawing on my experience treating sarcoidosis, I added Dang Gui Liu Huang Tang and San Huang Zhi Zi Tang (Huang Lian Jie Du Tang). Recently, I treated Lan Zhou’s Nian Xiuying, who was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome. Using the above formula significantly alleviated her symptoms, and she even sent me a banner upon discharge, inscribed with the words “High Medical Ethics, Miraculous Healing Hands.” Reflecting on this case, I believe that Gui Zhi Shao Yao Zhi Mu Tang can serve as a basic formula for connective tissue diseases, while combining it with Zicao, Wu She, Worm, Huang Lian Jie Du Tang, and Dang Gui Liu Huang Tang will produce synergistic effects.
