Case Study of Pericardial Effusion on August 14, 1995

Ms. Gong, a driver at Wushan County Hospital, suffered from acute pericarditis. She was hospitalized in the Department of Internal Medicine at the First Affiliated Hospital of Lanzhou Medical College and underwent multiple paracenteses and anti-tuberculosis treatments, but her condition did not improve. She sought my help. I prescribed a combination of Liver Cirrhosis Capsules, Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang, Ji Jiao Li Huang Wan, Xie Bai San, Ting Li Da Zao Xie Fei Tang, Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang, and Wu Ling San—five prescriptions in total—and the pericardial effusion was absorbed, leading to improvement in her condition. This case follows the same treatment approach as the previous "Pericarditis Case," except that the former included Wu Wei Xiao Du Yin, while the latter did not, but both used Liver Cirrhosis Capsules.
