Maintenance Prescription for Chronic Severe Liver Disease June 10, 1996

In the early summer of the Year of the Pig, Bao Shangxian, a township official in Wushan County, narrowly escaped death from severe hepatitis B after my diagnosis and treatment. One year later, jaundice slightly worsened, with liver area pain, abdominal distension, fatigue, and loss of appetite, accompanied by mild nausea and vomiting. I believed this indicated a relapse and advised him to seek hospitalization in Lanzhou, but due to financial difficulties, I formulated a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, instructing him to take ten doses and observe the situation temporarily. Unexpectedly, after taking the prescription, he made a full recovery, with all symptoms significantly alleviated. The prescription is recorded below: Chai Hu 10 g, Zhi Shi 10 g, Bai Shao 15 g, Gan Cao 6 g, Da Huang 6 g, Huang Lian 3 g, Huang Qin 10 g, Yin Chen 20 g, Zhi Zi 12 g, San Leng 10 g, E Shu 10 g, Jiang Huang 6 g, Qing Pi 6 g, Yan Hu Suo 10 g, Chuan Lian Zi 20 g, Zhi Ruxiang 3 g, Mo Yao 3 g, Danshen 30 g, Huang Qi 30 g, Dang Gui 10 g, Qin Jiao 10 g, and Ban Lan Gen 15 g. Decoct these ingredients and take one dose daily.
