Interleukin-2 January 29, 1997
Discovered in 1976 and named in 1979, abbreviated as IL-2, it is a type of lymphokine. Its main functions are: ① regulating the growth and transformation of T lymphocytes; ② activating NK cells (natural killer cells); ③ inducing the production of T lymphocytes; ④ stimulating B cells. Interleukin-2 has certain therapeutic effects on colon cancer, kidney cancer, and malignant melanoma. It is also notably effective for gastric cancer, tongue cancer, laryngeal cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer that have metastasized after surgery.
