Common pathogenic molds include Candida albicans, Cryptococcus, Aspergillus flavus, and Mucor. Candida albicans is a superficial mold, while the others are deep molds. Superficial mold infections often affect the skin and mucous membranes, forming moss-like or white films locally; deep mold infections can invade the lungs, kidneys, liver, and soft tissues. Lung infections are the most common, potentially leading to infection-like lesions, with some patients developing nodules, resembling metastatic cancer. Current antifungal medications include allicin, nystatin, amphotericin, ketoconazole, and diflucan. Diflucan is a ketoconazole formulation, 200 mL per bottle, containing 200 mg, administered intravenously at 200–400 mg daily, with a 14-day course.
