Recalling Premature Contractions, March 19, 1998
When treating this condition, I always use Zhigancao Tang as the main formula. Previously, I would add half a bundle of fragrant grass, Chen branches, and red flowers, along with three taels of golden tea to regulate heart rate; for premature beats, I'd add fresh ginseng, and for irregular heartbeats, I'd combine Zhishi and Jiegeng with golden bells; and for those from Shanxi Province, I'd use Kong Sheng Dan from the Jin and Yuan dynasties. Small Jianzhong, Large Jianzhong, Tianwang Buxin, and Guipi are also commonly used formulas. In recent years, Mr. Yang Zhendong from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, has proposed that Sheng Dihuang, Danshen, Kusen, and Mai Dong should be used in large doses, while Zhishi, Zhishi, and Yanhusuo are the most commonly used drugs—but not necessarily in large doses. Especially Yanhusuo, which is an excellent remedy for irregular heartbeats.
