Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura—Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (TTP-HUS) 1999.6.2

In the late stages of malignant tumors, in addition to the aforementioned exhaustion, cachexia, DIC, and stress ulcers, this syndrome may also occur. The clinical manifestations of TTP-HUS are: ① Severe thrombocytopenia; ② Hemolytic anemia (increased indirect bilirubin); severe anemia that does not improve even with blood transfusions, with fragmented red blood cells visible on smears; ③ Elevated blood urea nitrogen, with PRO in urine (+++), along with casts and red blood cells; ④ High fever and infection, with widespread bleeding across the body. This syndrome is difficult to distinguish from DIC, so it is necessary to check prothrombin time, coagulation time, and the 3P test to make a clear distinction.
