Input: According to: The above-mentioned Peach Red Four Substances Decoction is specifically used to treat purpura; Hu Feng Gui Mei; Side Cypress Wild-Grown Four Herbs are all specialized formulas for treating purpura, and their use in treating purpuric nephritis has yielded remarkable therapeutic effects, the underlying principles of which are thought-provoking.

  1. In the fourth month of the Ji Mao year, I treated a patient with rheumatoid arthritis using the following formula: 10g of Acanthopanax bark, 30g of raw Coix seed, 10g of Achyranthes root, 10g of Psoralea corylifolia, 10g of Drynaria rhizome, 4g of peppermint, 15g of Notopterygium incisum, 15g of Angelica pubescens, 15g of Tinospora sinensis, 10g of Gentiana macrophylla, 10g of Clematis armandii, 10g of Polygonum multiflorum, 12g of Smilax glabra, 15g of white peony, 6g of licorice, 10g of Cinnamomum cassia, 15g each of Aconitum carmichaelii and Aconitum kusnezoffii (decocted separately for one hour), and 1 whole Semen Strychni (fried in oil). After taking this formula, the patient remarked: "Seven doses of medicine cured a ten-year-old stubborn illness—truly a miraculous prescription!" Based on this experience, I believe this formula, along with Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang, can be regarded as sister formulas for treating rheumatic and rheumatoid arthritis, and they can also be applied to other autoimmune diseases.

  2. In the fifth month of the Ji Mao year, I treated two cases of immune thrombocytopenic purpura: Case one involved a young patient named Li from Shaanxi Province, and Case two involved a patient named Liu from Lanzhou. In the former case, the platelet count was 20×10^9^/L, which increased to 52×10^9^/L after treatment; in the latter case, the platelet count remained persistently low, fluctuating between (1–3)×10^9^/L, despite previous hospitalization at Lanzhou First Hospital without significant improvement, but it eventually rose to 12×10^9^/L after treatment.

The prescribed formula was: 20g of Agrimonia pilosa, 4 jujubes, 15g of raw Coix seed, 15g of adzuki beans, 6g of Phellodendron amurense, 10g of Gardenia jasminoides, 6g of licorice, 15g of oyster shell, 15g of Leonurus cardiaca, 6g of Moutan cortex, 10g of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 15g of Forsythia suspensa, taken together with Pei's Hematopoietic Granules.
