Clinical Experience in Treating Pediatric Focal Nephritis—May 8, 2000
A 5-year-old boy presented with proteinuria (+++), occult blood in urine (++), seeking treatment from me. Initially, I tried Gui Fu Ba Wei Wan, Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan, and Yi Shen Tang, but the effect was minimal; the hematuria did not improve, and the proteinuria only decreased to (++), without further reduction. Later, I used Long Dan Xie Gan Tang combined with A Fa Jian Mai, and the occult blood in the urine quickly turned negative. Given that occult blood in the urine can be treated with Long Dan Xie Gan Tang combined with A Fa, and I had previously used this formula for adult patients with hematuria without significant effect, could it be that treating pediatric hematuria is different from treating adult hematuria?
