Two Headache Formulas, January 18, 2001

Formula One: Kong Qing Gao (Huang Lian 3 g, Huang Qin 10 g, Qiang Huo 10 g, Chuan Xiong 6 g, Fang Feng 12 g, Chai Hu 10 g, Gan Cao 6 g), specifically for treating headaches caused by wind-heat attacking the upper body—the best formula for such cases.

Formula Two: Qing Zhen Tang (Sheng Ma 6 g, Cang Shu 10 g, He Ye 15 g. Decoct these herbs and take the resulting liquid), for treating thunderhead wind, headaches, and neck lumps. This formula was originally used by Liu He Jian to treat epidemic head winds, brain noise, and neck-face bumps. Sheng Ma repels evil spirits and detoxifies, Cang Shu dries dampness and strengthens the spleen, serving as the main force in eliminating miasmas and dispersing external pathogens; He Ye has a clear color and fragrant qi, resembling the image of shaking, helping the clear yang in the stomach rise upward.
