1. Regarding Viral Hepatitis
Q: What medications should be taken for viral hepatitis?
A: There are six types of viral hepatitis: A, B, C, D, E, and G. Each type has its own characteristics, which would take too long to explain here. Let me briefly introduce the three most common types:
- Type A (Hepatitis A): Also known as acute icteric infectious hepatitis. Although contagious, it is self-limiting and immune-mediated, and TCM is very effective, usually leading to complete recovery.
- Type B (Hepatitis B): Often has a prolonged course and tends to become chronic. Antiviral treatments include nucleoside analogs and interferons.
- Type C (Hepatitis C): Even more prone to chronicity. Specific antiviral drugs include Pegasys and Pelecan.
