12. Post-Cholecystectomy Syndrome

Question: Nausea accompanied by belching, bile reflux into the stomach, and chronic gastric antral ulcer. Last March, my gallbladder was removed due to polyps. What should I pay attention to? Is it related to the pancreas?

Answer: Cholecystectomy can lead to a series of sequelae, including inflammation of the gallbladder stump, bile reflux gastritis, esophagitis, and pancreatitis. Approximately half of patients who undergo cholecystectomy develop these conditions. I don’t really agree with cholecystectomy, because small gallstones and muddy stones can be cured with traditional Chinese medicine. These sequelae are collectively known as post-cholecystectomy syndrome.
