Answer: Stomach cancer with ascites indicates that the cancer has reached an advanced stage. One possibility is liver metastasis, and another is portal vein tumor thrombus. Whether to drain the ascites or not is no longer very important for the patient. The key issue is to protect the liver and strengthen the stomach, because the opportunity for surgery has already been lost. Only conservative treatment based on traditional Chinese medicine can be adopted. To address the ascites, diuretics or traditional Chinese medicines that warm yang and transform water can be used.
