My mother is 79 years old. Two years ago, she suffered a cerebral infarction, which recurred on January 11, 2014. After inpatient intravenous infusion treatment, she now has insomnia both at night and during the day, lasting for many days. She is taciturn and very passive when eating or taking medication. Her brain sometimes feels confused, and her cardiopulmonary function is poor, with dry stools. Currently, she only takes Tiandan Tongluo Capsules. Are there any other methods or medications to alleviate these symptoms?

Answer: There are many commonly used drugs for cerebral infarction, including traditional Chinese patent medicines such as Compound Danshen Tablets, Mao Dongqing, Jiaogulan, Dengzhanhua, and Gegen preparations; Western medicines include antiplatelet agents like aspirin, warfarin, Plavix, Persantine, and Rutin tablets. Recent new drugs include dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban. Traditional Chinese medicine, especially syndrome differentiation-based treatment, is most effective and can benefit most patients with cerebral infarction.
