6. Liver Disease with Palpitations
Question: I am your liver disease patient. Over the past two to three months, when sleeping on my left side, I can feel a pounding heartbeat. At night, I often dream and wake up easily, feeling anxious. I am currently taking medication for my liver disease. Could it be that there is another problem with my heart?
Answer: In principle, liver disease does not cause heart disease (other cardiac diseases caused by different factors are excluded here). If palpitations and shortness of breath are obvious, it is mostly due to autonomic dysfunction. Taking propranolol or similar medications can be effective.
