2. Chen Dian: Diarrhea with Multi-System Symptoms
Question: A family member has diarrhea, yellow urine, hair loss, swollen tongue and gums, muscle soreness and atrophy, joint noises, and dizziness. Blood tests show normal white blood cells and neutrophils, but elevated lymphocytes, high urinary calcium, low creatinine, and high hemoglobin, indicating rapid metabolism. Is this an infection, or something else? What should be done?
Answer: This is likely not an infection, but rather malabsorption in the digestive system caused by diarrhea. Vitamin B₁ and B₂—thiamine and riboflavin—are essential nutrients. Deficiency in either can lead to the aforementioned symptoms. It is recommended to take vitamin B₁, B₂, and methylcobalamin tablets.
