6. Yang Sheng Hai: 22-Year-Old Female with Cholecystitis and Gallstones
Question: I am a 22-year-old female with cholecystitis and gallstones. Previously, I occasionally had abdominal pain, but now it occurs several times a day. After taking traditional Chinese medicine for a month, the pain has not eased, and now my lower back pain is severe. The hospital recommends gallbladder removal surgery. What should I do now?
Answer: The gallbladder is an important digestive organ, much like Dongting Lake regulating the flow of the Yangtze River—it controls the amount of bile. If the gallbladder is removed, the digestive tract loses its ability to regulate bile production, leading to various gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Herbal treatment can: first, alleviate or eliminate pain; second, shrink or expel gallstones. However, these effects require long-term medication.
