1. Postpartum Fungal Vaginitis Consultation
Q: My wife is 26 years old. Twenty-three days after vaginal delivery, she had fungal vaginitis and a cyst during childbirth, which was removed during the episiotomy. Today, during disinfection, we discovered granulation tissue near the urethral opening and labia, with yellowish mucus adhering to it. Since she is in the postpartum period, what feasible treatment methods are available?
A: First of all, this condition does not affect the fetus. Your wife’s genital area has scar tissue from the episiotomy performed during childbirth. Fungal vaginitis needs treatment. Here is a simple prescription:
External Wash Formula
- Snakegourd seeds 15g
- Alum 5g
- Sophora flavescens 30g
- Phellodendron bark 15g
Add 3000ml of water, decoct for 10–20 minutes, then perform a hot sitz bath—first steam, then wash. This constitutes one treatment, twice daily.
