Q: There’s a spider nevus 2 cm below my left eye that has been there for six years (and has grown larger recently), and in the past few months, four more have appeared on my palms. Is this a sign of illness? What should I do?

A: Spider nevi are a manifestation of elevated estrogen levels. I’m not sure whether you’re male or female, but they usually occur when liver function is impaired, leading to insufficient inactivation of estrogen by the liver and resulting in spider nevi.
