5. Acute Abdominal Conditions

In addition to surgical treatment, in recent years various regions have successively researched and implemented non-surgical therapies for acute abdominal conditions, among which the most effective is integrated Chinese–Western therapy, with blood-stasis-removing therapy being the most commonly used traditional Chinese treatment method. The First Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical College used Huo Luo Xiao Ling Dan to treat over 700 cases of ectopic pregnancy, achieving excellent results. This method has since been promoted nationwide, treating over 2,000 cases, proving its definite therapeutic efficacy. Experimental studies have confirmed that the modified Huo Luo Xiao Ling Dan effectively clears pelvic blood clots, enhances monocyte phagocytic function, and increases blood solubility, all of which have obvious promoting effects. The Tianjin Institute for Integrated Chinese–Western Treatment of Acute Abdominal Conditions has achieved remarkable results by using blood-stasis-removing therapy to treat acute appendicitis. They initially used the Appendicitis Blood-Stasis Removing Decoction (yuan hu, chuan lian zi, dan pi, peach kernel, magnolia bark, honeysuckle, and rhubarb) to clear blood stasis in the early stages of the disease, then switched to the Appendicitis Clearing Decoction (honeysuckle, dandelion, dan pi, rhubarb, chuan lian zi, red peony root, peach kernel, and fresh herbs) once the appendix had become suppurative, combining heat-clearing and detoxifying actions with qi-moving and blood-circulating measures. For patients with severe systemic poisoning symptoms, they would administer the Appendicitis Clearing Decoction (honeysuckle, dandelion, rhubarb, winter melon seed, dan pi, magnolia bark, chuan lian zi, fresh herbs, raw gypsum, and flower powder) to primarily clear heat and detoxify while also promoting bowel movement and qi circulation.
