Preface
“Famous Chinese Expert in Traditional and Western Medicine Pei Zhengxue’s Health Weibo, Volume 4” has already published three volumes, totaling approximately 1.1 million characters. Since the publication of these three books nationwide, their content has been easy to understand and covers the most common health issues in daily life, thus attracting a large number of readers both domestically and internationally and having a wide and profound impact among ordinary people. We frequently receive letters from readers across the country praising the publication and compilation of this book and suggesting that this popular science Q&A series continue to be edited. From this, we can further see Director Liu Weizhong’s extraordinary vision: eight years ago, upon assuming the post of Director of the Gansu Provincial Health Department, he proposed that every influential expert in the province should establish their own Weibo account to build close doctor-patient and medical community relationships with online friends inside and outside the province for mutual exchange. It was in response to Director Liu’s call that I began engaging in Weibo health Q&A. Time really flies; eight years have passed. Looking back over these past eight years, my constant exchanges with numerous online friends and readers have not only helped my academic ideas on traditional Chinese medicine and its integration with Western medicine blossom across the country but have also motivated and trained me and my team to continuously read, practice, and answer questions, ultimately forming an academic team that combines theory with practice.

Foreword
Time really flies. Mr. Pei Zhengxue and his students have spent a year diligently compiling online Q&A into “Famous Chinese Expert in Traditional and Western Medicine Pei Zhengxue’s Health Weibo, Volume 4,” which is about to be published. Mr. Pei has once again asked me to write the foreword, and I am deeply moved by his rigorous scholarship and persistent spirit, so I gladly accepted.

I am delighted to find that compared with previously published Weibo books, this volume has undergone significant changes in terms of audience size, geographic distribution of online users, and the scope of Q&A content. Mr. Pei’s Weibo followers have reached 200,000, and the number of online questioners has expanded from within the province and neighboring provinces to all parts of the country, indicating that the influence of Mr. Pei’s Weibo Q&A is growing nationwide and that Gansu’s renowned veteran TCM doctors have established a prominent position in the national public opinion sphere. Moreover, the number of industry professionals asking questions has increased markedly compared with last year, and the topics covered have extended from common and general diseases to the latest developments in medical theory. Whether explaining clinical diseases and treatments or discussing cutting-edge medical theories, Mr. Pei always manages to present complex information in a clear and accessible manner, earning the admiration of questioners and benefiting observers immensely. Whether in Weibo Q&A or in clinical practice, Mr. Pei consistently adheres to the principle of “Western medical diagnosis, TCM syndrome differentiation, TCM as the mainstay, Western medicine as the auxiliary,” using an integrated approach of traditional Chinese and Western medicine to clarify medical doubts, alleviate patients’ suffering, and serve human health, thereby building bridges of communication and trust between doctors and patients as well as among medical professionals themselves.

Mr. Pei is a renowned expert in traditional Chinese and Western medicine in China. He comes from a family of TCM practitioners and graduated from Xi’an Medical University in the early 1960s. Over the past more than 50 years, he has used both traditional Chinese and Western medicine
