Adding Medication According to Symptoms

  • For severe anemia, select medicines with blood-nourishing properties, such as Ajiao, Guiban Jiao, Lujiao Jiao, Lurong Fen, Zihéche, or use ginseng alone;
  • For severe bleeding, select Zicao, Huangbo, Shengdi Yu, Qiancao, Bai Maogen, Tudahuang, Daji;
  • For spleen deficiency or severe loose stools, select Dangshen, Baizhu, Fuling, Huai Shan Yao;
  • For obesity or edema, also add Zexie, Cheqianzi, Huainiu Xi, etc.;
  • For those prone to colds, select or increase the dosage of Sheng Huangqi, Fangfeng, Baizhu, Banlangen, Lingzhi;
  • For yin deficiency with low-grade fever, select Qinghao, Biejia, Digupi, Yin Chaihu, Bai Wei, etc.;
  • For night sweats, add Fumai Xiao, Zhuang Long Mu;
  • For severe yang deficiency, add Zhi Fupian, try to use little or no Rougui to avoid stimulating blood flow and causing bleeding;
  • For acne, folliculitis, or other mild infections, select Yinhua, Lianqiao, Banlangen, Pugongying, Zihua Diding, and other clearing heat and detoxifying herbs.

For cases that have been treated for a long time without effect: In addition to adjusting medications and increasing dosages, if there is no tendency toward bleeding, add blood-activating herbs such as Danshen, Jixueteng, Chuanxiong, Sanqi, etc., on top of kidney-tonifying treatments, and strengthen the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for comprehensive multi-drug therapy. When aplastic anemia is complicated by severe infection or bleeding, prioritize symptomatic treatment in emergencies, and return to the original aplastic anemia treatment plan once the infection and bleeding are brought under control.
