1 Conclusions
1.1 Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules can significantly inhibit the growth of tumors in tumor-bearing mice, enhance the anti-tumor efficacy of the chemotherapy drug 5-Fu, and demonstrate remarkable pharmacological anti-tumor effects.
1.2 Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules can increase the WBC and PLT counts as well as the DNA content of bone marrow cells in tumor-bearing mice after 5-Fu chemotherapy, indicating that the granules can promote bone marrow hematopoiesis and alleviate chemotherapy-induced bone marrow suppression.
1.3 Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules can promote the secretion of TNF-α and IFN-γ in the serum of tumor-bearing mice, thereby regulating the body's immune function after chemotherapy, which is also one of the important pathways through which Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules exert their anti-tumor effects.
Research on Pei Zhengxue’s series of formulas
1.4 The results of this experiment demonstrate that Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules can improve bone marrow suppression in tumor-bearing mice after chemotherapy, regulate post-chemotherapy immune function, and provide a detoxifying and efficacy-enhancing effect on cancer chemotherapy—consistent with the clinical efficacy that Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules have achieved over many years of clinical application.
2 Reflections and Prospects
Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules are a therapeutic formula developed by Professor Pei Zhengxue based on more than forty years of clinical experience. This formula integrates warming the kidneys, strengthening the spleen, benefiting qi, and nourishing blood, with "fu zheng gu ben" as its core principle. Over the years, it has achieved relatively satisfactory clinical outcomes in cancer treatment, proving that Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules are not only highly effective against leukemia but also exhibit significant clinical efficacy against malignant tumors, especially in cases of bone marrow suppression and immune dysfunction caused by radiation and chemotherapy.
This research project was inspired by Professor Pei Zhengxue's more than forty years of clinical experience, aiming to explore the mechanism by which Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules mitigate the toxicity of chemotherapy and enhance its efficacy. Therefore, the study focused on examining the effects of Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules combined with 5-Fu on bone marrow DNA content and serum TNF-α and IFN-γ concentrations in tumor-bearing mice. This approach fully embodies the idea of using clinical experience to guide experimental research, thus avoiding blind experimentation. In future research, we will make full use of new advances in modern science and technology to delve deeper into the molecular biological mechanisms underlying Pei's Blood-Boosting Granules' anti-tumor effects, explore Professor Pei's integrative approach to cancer treatment combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and provide more microscopic explanations for this clinical formula.
