Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that the key to the occurrence of this disease is "deficiency of righteous qi." The "Yizong Baidu" states: "The formation of accumulations is due to insufficient righteous qi, allowing pathogenic qi to take hold." During the Song and Yuan dynasties, Zhang Yuan, Li Dongyuan, Luo Tianyi, and others all made similar statements about "nourishing righteous qi to eliminate accumulations." In recent years, reports of successful tumor treatment using methods to bolster righteous qi have been increasing. The Longhua Hospital affiliated with the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine treated a case of advanced liver cancer using the method of strengthening the Spleen and tonifying the Kidney. After two months of chemotherapy with Western medicine proved ineffective, they switched to traditional Chinese medicine, and the patient gradually improved, regaining spirit and having ascites resolved after three months before being discharged. They also used this method to treat a case of advanced breast cancer, where the tumor completely disappeared after four months^⑦^. In 1978, I treated a patient with mediastinal tumor: Mr. Ju, male, 48 years old, with chest pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dry cough without phlegm, and occasional difficulty swallowing. A chest X-ray confirmed a mediastinal tumor, approximately 10 cm × 9 cm in size. Given the large size of the tumor, surgery recommended conservative treatment with traditional Chinese medicine, so I applied the method of strengthening the Spleen and tonifying the Kidney, prescribing a formula combining Liu Wei Di Huang Tang with Er Chen Tang, adjusted as needed. After taking more than 100 doses, the patient's subjective symptoms completely disappeared, and a chest X-ray confirmed that the tumor had shrunk to 4 cm × 5 cm. Subsequently, surgery removed an elliptical tumor measuring 3 cm × 4 cm × 6 cm from the posterior mediastinum, with a smooth surface and no adhesions. Pathological report: nerve fiber tumor.
