3. The Liver and Leukemia
The "Spiritual Pivot · On the Essence of the Spirit" states: "The liver stores blood, and blood houses the soul." If the liver's blood storage function is impaired, blood is more prone to illness. The liver belongs to the wood element, characterized by its ability to flow freely and its preference for dispersing. When wood qi stagnates, it easily transforms into fire; when fire is excessive, it forces blood to flow erratically. The liver also governs wind, and when wind stirs, it causes acute spasms. These pathological mechanisms and clinical manifestations share commonalities with those of leukemia. Therefore, when leukemia presents similar symptoms, treatment should be approached from the perspective of the liver.
