3. Clear Heat and Remove Dampness
Liver stagnation generates heat, while spleen deficiency produces dampness; when heat and dampness combine, the tongue coating becomes yellow and greasy, the pulse becomes slippery and rapid, stools become loose and foul-smelling, and jaundice may even appear. Treatment should focus on clearing heat and removing dampness. The author adds Coix Seed, Dandelion, Patrinia, Red Vine, Coptis, Artemisia, and Polygonum to the liver-soothing and spleen-strengthening formulas.
