Blood Accumulation (1)

Blood accumulation refers to the situation where pathogenic factors from typhoid or epidemic diseases invade the blood chamber, causing all the blood in the body to be drawn into the chamber and accumulate. Lower abdominal pain, with the individual feeling either cold or hot, clear-headed during the day but delirious at night, even going so far as to become狂, shouting and cursing—this is exactly what the "Inner Canon" describes as "blood above likes to forget, blood below acts like a狂." Dog bites and venomous substances accumulating in the blood chamber can also cause madness, all of which fall under the category of blood accumulation. Zhong Jing Di Dang Tang is used to treat this condition, and Tao Ren Cheng Qi Tang is also effective. If one lacks the courage to confront it, one can use Ge Xia Zhu Yu Tang combined with rhubarb. If the blood has not yet solidified but heat has entered the blood chamber, and the person becomes delirious at night, Xiao Chai Hu Tang combined with peach kernel and dan pi can be used to treat it.

[Note]

(1) Blood accumulation: When blood heat accumulates within the internal organs, it is called "blood accumulation." See Article 106 of the "Shang Han Lun" for details.

[Commentary] The "Shang Han Lun" states: "If solar disease is not resolved, heat will accumulate in the bladder, causing the person to act like a狂, with blood descending and improving. If the exterior is not resolved, it cannot be attacked yet; first, the exterior must be resolved. Once the exterior is resolved, if the lower abdomen is severely contracted, then it can be attacked, preferably with Tao Ren Cheng Qi Tang." "For Yangming syndrome, if the person likes to forget, it must be due to long-term blood stasis, which makes them prone to forgetting. Although the stool is hard, the bowel movement is easier, and the color is always black, so Di Dang Tang should be used to address this issue." This article is largely based on these principles.
