Chai Hu Mei Lian San
Chaihu 3 qian, Ginseng 3 qian, Huangqin 3 qian, Licorice 1 qian, Huhuanglian 1 qian, White Peony 3 qian, Angelica 3 qian
Chaihu Tang and Xiaoyao San each contribute half of this formula, but the emphasis is on huhuanglian, which is particularly effective at clearing fire compared to the two. The heart is the child of the liver, and huhuanglian drains the heart, effectively draining its child.
[Note] According to "Shen Shi Zun Sheng Shu," Chai Qian Mei Lian San includes wumei, qianhu, pig bile, and pig spinal cord, among others. It specializes in treating bone-steaming.
