Ancient sages believed that any drainage must be accompanied by tonification, so there is no harm in doing so, as seen in these two formulas. Platycodon opens up lung qi, so it is used for sore throat and pulmonary abscess drainage, always paired with licorice to support the earth-to-metal transformation, helping to open up lung qi. Tingli is bitterly cold and powerful, capable of draining qi trapped in the lungs, whether it's fire blocking the lungs or fluid rushing into the lungs, all can be drained according to the actual situation, always paired with jujubes to remove the evil without harming the good. Those who understand this principle can appreciate the significance of coordination.

[Note] This formula originates from "Jinkui Yaolue." It combines tonification and drainage, with no adverse effects in clinical practice.
