White Atractylodes 3 qian, Poria 3 qian, White Peony 3 qian, Fresh Ginger 3 qian, Prepared Aconite 3 qian

Water retention is primarily governed by the kidneys. When kidney yang transforms water, the water descends instead of rising, so Aconite is used to tonify kidney yang and act as a regulator of water qi. Earth controls water, so Poria and Atractylodes are used to prevent water accumulation. White Peony has a bitter and descending nature, thus helping to drain excess water. Fresh Ginger has a pungent and dispersing nature, promoting the circulation of qi. Together, these ingredients promote drainage, control, and prevention, ensuring that water is properly managed and does not cause problems. Hence the name "Zhenwu Water God" for this formula.

[Note] This formula originates from "Shanghan Lun." It warms yang and promotes diuresis, mainly treating edema caused by spleen-kidney yang deficiency.
