Er Chen Tang is a formula for calming the stomach and eliminating phlegm, while bamboo shavings clear the fire above the diaphragm, and Citrus Aurantium Peel helps regulate the qi above the diaphragm. The overall goal is to ensure smooth flow of phlegm and qi, so that the gallbladder remains calm. Warming actually means clearing, making it suitable for treating phlegm and qi-related vomiting and hiccups.

[Note] This formula originates from "Qianjin Fang." Although named "Wendan," it is essentially about clearing the gallbladder, harmonizing the stomach, and eliminating phlegm. Therefore, it can treat gallbladder deficiency with phlegm-heat disturbing the upper part, leading to vomiting and hiccups.
