Wang Weichuan, a renowned TCM gynecologist at Chengdu Medical College, has been summarizing his experience in treating adrenal cortex insufficiency since publishing a case study in 1964. In recent years, Zhao Lihua from the Third People’s Hospital of Chengdu has summarized his experience into the following two formulas:

  1. Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency: Codonopsis pilosula 60g, Astragalus membranaceus 60g, Eucommia ulmoides 12g, Dipsacus asper 24g, Loranthus parasiticus 24g, Millettia speciosa 30g, Chicken gizzard membrane 9g, Deer antler glue 15g, Cuscuta chinensis 15g, Psoralea corylifolia 12g, earthworm 9g, Puhuang 9g, Amber 9g. Characteristics of this formula: tonify qi, strengthen yang, fortify muscles, and promote blood circulation.

  2. Liver-Kidney Yin Deficiency: Rehmannia glutinosa 12g, Angelica sinensis 9g, North American ginseng 18g, Ophiopogon japonicus 9g, Goji berry 6g, Melia azedarach 6g, Ligustrum lucidum 6g, Eclipta prostrata 6g, Eucommia ulmoides 15g, Dipsacus asper 6g, Loranthus parasiticus 12g, Millettia speciosa 30g, Chicken gizzard membrane 9g, earthworm 6g, Puhuang 6g, Amber 6g. Characteristics of this formula: nourish blood, tonify yin, strengthen muscles, and promote blood circulation.
