Further Discussion on Recent Antibacterial Drugs, November 28, 2003
-
Tienam (imipenem/cilastatin sodium) A broad-spectrum antibiotic with powerful antibacterial effects against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, anaerobic, and aerobic bacteria. Although expensive, it can be used by patients with renal insufficiency. Dosage: 1 g, intravenous drip, twice daily, half-life of 8 hours.
-
Dafukang (fluconazole) Suitable for systemic candidiasis, cryptococcosis, and fungal infections in critically ill patients. Dosage: 200 mg per 100 mL, intravenous drip, half-life of 20 hours. Oral administration is also possible: 0.1 g, three times daily is the usual dosage.
-
Vancomycin Hydrochloride de-norvancomycin (expensive). This drug is suitable for infections caused by Gram-positive staphylococci. Half-life is 8 hours; adults receive 0.8–1.6 g (800,000–1,600,000 units), with each vial containing 0.4 g (400,000 units). Add 250 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride solution for intravenous drip.
-
Cefotetan sodium A semi-synthetic cephalosporin derivative. Suitable for Gram-positive gas-producing bacteria, staphylococci, streptococci, and pneumococci. Dosage: 1 g, intravenous drip, once or twice daily, half-life of 8 hours.
-
Kaideling (ampicillin/sulbactam), 2 g ampicillin + 1 g sulbactam = 3 g, 3 g = 1 vial, intramuscular injection or intravenous drip. Three to four times daily, half-life of 1.5 hours. Originally named Xiamulin.
-
Weiqida (amoxicillin/sulbactam) 2:1, 0.75 g per vial or 1.5 g per vial, half-life of 1.5 hours, once daily, dissolved in 250 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride solution for intravenous drip, once or twice daily.
-
Azithromycin (azithromycin lactate), a macrolide antibiotic similar to erythromycin, with an extremely broad antibacterial spectrum. Effective against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, anaerobic, and mold bacteria, as well as chlamydia and mycoplasma infections. Half-life is 12 hours; can be used once daily, 0.5 g intravenous drip, each vial contains 0.1 g, takes 3 hours to complete the infusion, course of treatment: 5–7 days.
-
Shufu (cephalosporins), half-life of 8 hours, dosage: 1–2 g daily, twice daily.
-
Zuo Ke (levofloxacin) 0.2 g, intravenous drip, twice daily, 2 mL (0.1) ampoule, injection speed of 0.1 per hour. Patients with renal insufficiency should reduce dosage or avoid use altogether; wrap in black paper.
