  1. Qiju Maiwei Dihuang Wan and Qing'e Wan for Treating Tremors

The dosages in these formulas are all standard doses, with Qiju and Maiwei being small doses. According to "Su Wen · Yin Yang Ying Xiang Da Lun," "Fear harms the kidneys" and "Fear is associated with the will"; "Su Wen · Ju Tong Lun," "Fear causes qi to descend" and "Fear depletes essence"; "Ling Shu · Ben Shen," "If fear persists without resolution, it damages essence, and damage to essence leads to bone soreness, weakness, and collapse"; "Su Wen · Zang Qi Fa Shi Lun," "When the liver is deficient, the eyes become blurry and unable to see, the ears become deaf and unable to hear, one becomes easily fearful, like someone about to be caught." Overall, based on these views, this condition is related to fear, so treatment should focus on the kidneys. Both Maiwei Dihuang Wan and Qing'e Tang (Wan) are tonics that nourish the kidneys.

  1. Modified Dachaihu Tang for Chronic Cholecystitis

Main symptoms: right flank pain, mild fever, nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, belching, and a wiry, large pulse. This formula is Zhang Zhongjing's Dachaihu Tang with added Jin Qian Cao 24g, Hua Shi 12g, and Ji Nei Jin 12g.

Dosage characteristics: less rhubarb and zhishi, more ginger and banxia. Jin Qian Cao promotes bile flow and clears heat, Hua Shi promotes urination and drains heat, while Ji Nei Jin resolves accumulated heat.

  1. Compound Qianshi Compound for Chronic Nephritis

Qianshi 30g, Bai Zhu 12g, Fu Ling 12g, Shan Yao 15g, Tu Si Zi 24g, Jin Ying Zi 24g, Huang Jing 24g, Bai He 18g, Pi Pa Ye 9g, Dang Shen 9g. Mnemonic: Pa Shan Huang Tu Er Bai Si.

Characteristics of this formula: Si Jun Zi strengthens the spleen and replenishes qi, Tu Si Zi tonifies kidney yang, Huang Jing assists Si Jun Zi in tonifying the spleen and stomach qi, while Qianshi and Jin Ying Zi are both around 30g—these two herbs together form the "Shui Lu Er Xian Dan," a famous formula from "Zheng Zhi Zhun Sheng," primarily used to astringe essence and stop遗. However, when applied to chronic nephritis with proteinuria, it also has the effect of astringing遺, where 遺 refers to the loss of protein. Bai He tonifies the lungs, and Pi Pa Ye benefits lung qi, allowing lung qi to circulate smoothly and descend to the bladder.

  1. Huang Qi Porridge for Late-Stage Chronic Nephritis

Raw Huang Qi 30g, raw Yi Yi Ren 30g, red adzuki beans 15g, Ji Nei Jin 9g, Chen Pi 3g, glutinous rice 30g, boiled with water, one dose daily. (This formula comes from "Leng Lu Yi Hua.")
