Clinical Application of Da Ban Xia Tang, October 12, 1978

Da Ban Xia Tang is a famous formula from "Jin Gui Yao Lue," composed of Ban Xia, Ren Shen, and honey. In section 17 of "Treatment of Vomiting, Hiccups, and Diarrhea Based on Pulse Diagnosis and Symptoms," clause 16 states, "For reverse stomach, vomiting, use Da Ban Xia Tang." Later, based on clinical experience, white atractylodes and fresh ginger were added to the original formula, improving its efficacy. Zhu Jinzhong from the Shanxi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine used this formula to treat incomplete pyloric obstruction, neurogenic vomiting, malignant transformation of ulcers, gastric torsion, and cardia spasm, with good results. The characteristics of his prescription are: 15g of fresh ginger, 15g of Ban Xia, and 30g of honey.
