Case of Treating Tonsillitis—April 9, 1979
In early spring of 1979, I treated a lecturer at the University of Technology. The patient suffered from an acute exacerbation of chronic pharyngitis, with bilateral tonsils swollen to grade III. After taking three doses of the following formula, the swollen tonsils completely subsided.
Rehmannia glutinosa 12 g, Scrophularia ningpoensis 10 g, Ophiopogon japonicus 10 g, Fritillaria cirrhosa 6 g, Oyster shell 15 g, Prunella vulgaris 15 g, Sanleng 10 g, Ezhushi 10 g, Platycodon grandiflorus 20 g, Glycyrrhiza 6 g, Gardenia fruit 10 g, Shegan 6 g, Burdock seed 6 g, Honeysuckle flowers 15 g, Forsythia suspensa 15 g, Taraxacum officinale 15 g. Treating tonsillitis requires simultaneously nourishing yin and clearing heat.
