Theory of Rising, Falling, Sinking, and Floating 1986.2.22
The "Suwen·Yinyang Yingxiang Dalun" states: "Clear yang rises through the upper orifices, while turbid yin descends through the lower orifices; clear yang permeates the skin and muscles, while turbid yin flows into the five viscera; clear yang nourishes the four limbs, while turbid yin returns to the six fu organs." It further says: "If clear qi remains below, diarrhea occurs; if turbid qi stays above, bloating arises." The "Suwen·Liu Wei Zhi Dalun" adds: "If the entry and exit of qi are blocked, the body's vital functions cease; if rising and falling stop, qi stands alone and is in danger. Therefore, without entry and exit, there is no growth, development, aging, or decline; without rising and falling, there is no growth, transformation, storage, or collection."
