Japanese An Zhong San for Treating Ulcer Disease, September 27, 1987

Composition: Cinnamon, 4 g; Corydalis, 3 g; Oyster Shell, 3 g; Fennel, 1.5 g; Amomum, 6 g; Galangal, 0.5 g; Licorice, 6 g. Grind all ingredients, sieve, and take in divided doses twice daily, morning and evening. It is more effective when taken with liquor or vinegar.

Mnemonic: Cinnamon, Galangal, Amomum, Fennel, Corydalis, Oyster Shell, Licorice follow.

Effects: Promotes bile flow, neutralizes stomach acid, and prevents ulcers.

Note: All flavoring spices such as cinnamon, Amomum, fennel, and galangal have bile-promoting effects. If they didn’t have this effect, why would they be good for cooking meat?
